Dove Worldview:
Dean Jones uses a gruff voice in his portrayal of the elderly John the Apostle, and there is not a false note in his entire performance. It is an insightful and poignant presentation. His sincerity is beyond question. The play is scripturally sound, and Pastor Jack Hayford of Church on the Way suggests this as well in a bonus feature which includes both himself and Dean Jones. Jones manages to keep the audience's attention as well as the viewer of the DVD for ninety two minutes in performing this well-crafted role as St. John. Those who wonder about enjoying a one-man show need not fear. For those who mistakenly think that Dean Jones' talent is limited to The Love Bug, this performance will quickly change their minds. The character of St. John not only speaks of his experience on the Isle of Patmos, but of his experiences in following Christ during the time of the gospels.This is well worth viewing and we gladly award this program our Dove "Family-Approved" Seal for the entire family.
