Experience one of America's most joyous coming-of-age stories with the Where the Red Fern Grows: Two DVD Set. Featuring an adaptation of the classic novel by Wilson Rawls and the sequel inspired by the original characters, this set begins with the story of Billy Coleman's childhood adventures in the Ozarks during the Great Depression. As a boy, all Billy wants is to save up enough money to get a pair of redbone hound dogs. When the pups finally arrive, he christens them Old Dan and Little Ann, and the trio become inseparable as they roam the river bottoms. Through his dogs Billy learns the joys of life and, ultimately, tragedy that prepare him for manhood.

Where the Red Fern Grows: Part 2 picks up with Billy returning home to begin a spiritual and emotional recovery after the loss of his leg in World War II. Embittered and saddened by his experiences, Billy receives a pair of redbone pups like he had as a boy, a gift from his grandfather (Wilford Brimley) to try to help him heal. The pups bring back fond memories, as does a neighbor boy, Wilson, whose youthful fascination with the pups reminds Billy of himself and helps him to rediscover the joy of life.
