  • Though Mandie Shaw is forbidden from interfering with Uncle John's imminent journey to keep an old promise, travel plans change when Mandie's long-lost mother, Elizabeth, shows up on the scene. Suddenly, Uncle John and Ned have a pair of partners along for the ride, which keeps turning more dangerous the more Mandie learns about her uncle and the terrain. New friends jump in to solve the trail of riddles surrounding the Lost Antler Cave Mine, landing Mandie and her sidekicks in a series of near-misses and wild scrapes. Then, as Mandie gets closer to unlocking the mystery, she realizes the key will put her face to face with the one person she never wanted to meet.

The second adventure based on the popular Mandie book series by Lois Gladys Leppard, Mandie and the Cherokee Treasure stars Lexi Johnson (Mandie and the Secret Tunnel) with a special appearance by Hayley Mills (Pollyanna, The Parent Trap). A recipient of the Dove Family-Approved Seal for viewers of all ages, the DVD comes with a discussion guide for families and youth groups.

    Dove Worldview:

"Mandie and the Cherokee Treasure" begins where the first movie left off. Now Mandie has met her real mother and is unsure how to address her. But a new adventure is about to begin that will draw the two closer than anyone every thought possible as the two work together to track down the new clues for this treasure and keep Uncle John safe.

The story is as charming as the first Mandie adventure with all the mystery as in the first story. As in most sequels to any original movie, this one comes a little short. But the adventure is still intriguing and a wholesome film for the entire family. We award the Dove "Family-Approved" Seal for all ages to this DVD.

    Very Well Done!

I thoroughly enjoyed Mandie and the Secret Tunnel and Mandie and the Cherokee Treasure. This book series is my granddaughter's favorite.

    Family-friendly and Entertaining

Involving a hidden heirloom, two criminals, Cherokee gold, and more, families will find this adventure family-friendly and entertaining. I can't imagine all the costume duplicates that were needed and the make-up and hair touch-ups required when filming! I think the strongest scene was at the end--it was so romantic! Oh, and one last thing, the bloopers were definitely entertaining, so don't miss them!

Fun Enough For Kids, Deep Enough For Adu

Mandie and the Cherokee Treasure is a great movie for the whole family! I have a 10-year old girl and a 7-year-old boy, and they both like to regularly watch this movie and the first one--Mandie and the Secret Tunnel. My kids really like the adventure and mystery in Mandie and the Cherokee Treasure. They love the riddles and the chase scenes. My daughter admires Mandie's independent and adventurous spirit, and my son thinks Joe is cool. They both laugh at the antics of Gaynelle Snow and Bayne Locke, particularly Lock's humorously exaggerated word pronunciations. Personally, I enjoyed seeing the redemption of (no spoiler alert needed) one of the characters. This character experienced a heart change that was believable and powerful, and the redemption was rewarded with forgiveness. The themes in this movie provide some meaningful conversation starters with kids. As a parent, it's great finding a movie with the plot and production quality that holds my kids' attention while communicating valuable themes with layers that multiple ages can grasp and connect with. My kids and me are looking forward to the next movie in the Mandie series! (read more)
