Jason Malek (Seth Packard) is serving as a soldier in Afghanistan when divine intervention saves him from a sniper attack that kills his best friend, a devoted husband, father, and Christian. Tormented by guilt from watching his friend die and being spared by a God in whom he doesn't believe, Jason returns home to make peace with his past, beginning with the childhood tragedy of losing his father. Comfort comes when new neighbors, Lou and Paul, shed light on Jason's dad, who just may have been watching out for Jason all along.
A faith-affirming story of inspiration and hope, Fire Creek is a powerful portrait of one man's fight to discover God's love in the midst of overwhelming despair. As Jason searches for his purpose and an answer to the age-old question, "Why do bad things happen to good people?", the former soldier adjusts to his new day-to-day life and does his best to improve the lives of those who surround him.

Dove Worldview:
This is a gripping and powerful drama about the connection between a father and son, and how that faith in the Bible can lead to a hope beyond the grave. A young marine named Jason witnesses the death of his friend Taylor overseas and returns home scarred with the memory. Jason had previously lost his father when he was a boy due to another tragic event, a warehouse fire. Now, he befriends the neighbor's son Lou. Lou's dad, Paul, knew Jason's father and later Jason learns that he and Paul have more in common than he first realizes.
Jason was saved from his friend Taylor's fate when he heard his father's voice tell him to stay down. When his friend Taylor leaped to his feet, he met his end. The story includes Paul reading the Bible and he and Jason's mother helping Jason to realize that God is in control, even when it seems chaos is all around. The irony is that Jason is later able to return the favor to Paul, when Lou faces his own tragic loss. The question of why bad things happen is dealt with.
There is a scene in the film in which Jason's dad appears to him for a moment, and whether it is an angelic visit or a momentary vision is not clear but what is clear is that Jason is encouraged that there is life after death and as he seeks God, he can one day join his father forever. This is well-acted story and we are pleased to award it our Dove "Family-Approved" Seal. "Fire Creek" has a lot to say about rebuilding lives on old ruins. This one will entertain you and just may speak to your heart.
