When Maggy Fuller (Aley Underwood) receives an anonymous letter full of praise and encouragement, she can't imagine who would say such wonderful things to her. After all, the rebellious teenager is practically invisible to her dad and a disappointment to her mom. Her search for the mysterious letter's author leads her Sam Worthington (Bernie Diamond), an aging man in a rest home who tries to change the world using a pen name, a phone book, and one handwritten note at a time.
Maggy's unlikely new friend seems to know her better than anyone and inspires her to become a letter writer, too, but a string of struggles in her personal, school, and home life test her faith, forcing her to continue her search for her own purpose in life.

This is a wonderful movie with a nice redemption theme which families everywhere will enjoy. Sam is a Christian who writes letters to people from the phone book, people he feels "led" to write. He strikes gold when he writes sixteen-year-old Maggy, who tracks him down and finds him in a nursing home. Maggie has had a difficult upbringing and does some things she shouldn't such as stealing and cheating and arguing with her mother. But Sam's influence changes her life and he helps her discover her singing talent and she gets a chance to let it shine and make her mother proud.
We are recommending this movie for all ages, because of the few scenes of disrespect it should probably be watched as a family if you have young children. It has a lot of good elements in it and we are pleased to award this movie our Dove Seal. For you tender-hearted viewers, get the Kleenex out!
Sex: Passionate kissing between girl and her boyfriend; kissing by another couple.
Violence: Family tension as mother and daughter argue and girl disrespects mother.
Drugs: A character is hooked up to an I.V. in the hospital.
Other: Girl steals twice from mother and cheats but changes by film's end; girl turns music up and sings "Burn down the house"; in a few inspiring scenes Jesus is mentioned; death and sadness.
