Davey and Goliath Returns on DVD

August 31, 2010

Rock Rapids, IA - Bridgestone Multimedia Group™ proudly announces that the first volume of the time-honored children's TV show Davey and Goliath is now available on DVD at gobmg.com.

Between 1960 and 1975, millions of children across the United States and world watched the wholesome adventures of Davey and his talking dog, Goliath. Produced by Gumby creators Art Clokey and Ruth Clokey Goodell, Davey and Goliath teaches Christian morals and values through stop-motion claymation and old-fashioned charm.

The full series is being released on DVD by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), which owns the show's rights.

"Our goal is to bring the important faith-based messages communicated through these characters to children and their parents in the 21st century," said Eric Shafer, Director of Communications with the ELCA.

Since the final episode aired in 1975, Davey and Goliath has been translated into seven languages and broadcast on every continent except Antarctica. Spinoff products have ranged from best-selling story books and preschool curriculum to lunch boxes, neck ties, and bobblehead dolls. Holiday specials air throughout the year, and the series has inspired numerous pop culture references on shows like The Simpsons and Friends.

The newly restored Davey and Goliath: Volume 1 features six 15-minute episodes with lessons on listening to your parents, being true to yourself, and recognizing God's love. The DVD includes episodes titled "Lost in a Cave," "Stranded on an Island," "The Wild Goat," "The Winner," "The New Skates," and "Cousin Barney" and is available for $14.95 at gobmg.com.

Bridgestone Multimedia Group also plans to release volumes 2 and 3 in 2010.
